7th Black Sea Container Summit

On the 4th – 6th of September 2013 in Odessa (Ukraine) there was held the 7th International Black Sea Container Summit. As usual, Interlegal was represented at the forum by Artur Nitsevych, the Managing Partner.

The summit was organized by the Ports of Ukraine publication and the information analytical center BlackSeaTrans supported by the Organization of Black Sea Economic Cooperation. The event gathered over 160 representatives of the largest world sea container lines, global container terminal operators, managers and representatives of sea ports, stevedore companies, container equipment manufacturers, transport and forwarding companies from 9 countries of the world (the United Kingdom, Germany, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Romania, Turkey, Ukraine, Estonia). Among the various themes there were discussed at the summit prospects of the Black Sea container market development, transit, intermodal, coasting transportations, impact of global trends thereon. Special attention was paid on the port reform in Ukraine, innovations in container cargo customs clearance, modern technologies in container processing. There was discussion about bulk export cargo transportation in containers.

On the summit opening day the company Brooklyn-Kiev-Port invited the delegates to get acquainted with work and plans of their terminal in the Odessa Commercial sea Port. On the last day of the event the participants could get acquainted with termination of building new container terminal in the Odessa Sea Port, at the Quarantine Pier, with capacity of 600 thousand TEU per year. The final accord of the summit was sea voyage at the Khadjibey catamaran along the Odessa port water area and along the coast of Odessa
