First Scientific and Practical Conference

Vyacheslav Lebedev, the consultant of the International Law Offices Interlegal took part in the First Scientific and Practical Conference International Legal Problems of Modern Merchant Shipping which took place in Kiev on the 11^th of December 2012.

The conference was held in the Kiev University of Law working under the auspices of the Koretski Institute of State and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The conference was opened by Mr. Yu.L. Bloshitsky, the Rector of the Kiev University of Law. He made a welcome speech on behalf of Mr. V.A. Yevdokimov, the President of the World Association of Lawyers.

The most interesting were the reports Some Problems of Modern International Maritime Law prepared by G.A. Antselevich, Problems of International Legal regulation of Using Seabed Resources by K.L. Lares, Unilateral Acts in the International Maritime Law by S.A. Melnik, Legal Order of Inspection of Sea Vessels in Sea Ports by V.P. Vorobyov, The Hague-Visbi Rules and the Rotterdam Rules in The Light of The Modern Maritime Industry Development by A.N. Ptashenchuk, and other reports prepared on the plenary meeting and on the section meetings.

We would like to indicate on the high working level of the organizational committee of the conference which we hope will become regular and will promote development of researching urgent problems of the international law in the field of shipping.
