Interlegal at the UBA 5th Judicial Forum

Interlegal lawyer Mikhail Selivanov participated in the UBA 5th Judicial Forum held in Kiev, on September, 29-30.

For five years the forum was recognized by law community as a venue for discussion of the most important and vital issues in the framework of both certain law industries or business activities and the whole legal system of Ukraine.

This year the forum was held under the auspices of the EU-funded project “Support to Justice Reforms in Ukraine”.

The importance of discussed themes was reflected in the following list of speakers: Oleksiy Filatov, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine, Yaroslav Romaniuk, Head of Supreme Court of Ukraine, Kostiantyn Krasovskyi, Secretary of the Presidential Council on the Judicial Reform, Ihor Benedysiuk, Head of High Council of Justice, Serhii Koziakov, Head of High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, Bohdan Lvov, Head of High Economic Court of Ukraine, and Borys Hulko, Head of High Specialized Court of Ukraine for Civil and Criminal Cases.

Over 300 delegates participated in the event, including practicing lawyers of famous law firms, scientific researchers, judges, state officers and public men.

Special attention was drawn to issues regarding constitutional and judicial reforms under the Laws of Ukraine “On amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine (On justice)” No. 1401-VIII dd. 02.06.2016 and “On Judiciary and judge status” No. 1402-VIII dd. 02.06.2016.

Organizers of the event highlighted resonant procedural innovations, such as jurisdiction separation of the Supreme and Constitutional Courts of Ukraine in view of constitutional changes, new types of court proceedings, class action suit in commercial proceedings and case consideration by international arbitrations.
